Information literacy

Information literacy - The library and its resources
The University Library Center offers its users information literacy courses aimed at acquiring the information skills necessary to identify, find, evaluate, organize and use resources correctly and effectively.

The course "The library and its resources" is divided into three modules, described below:

Getting to know the library: services and use of the catalogue
The module includes a frontal lesson on the services useful for the use of the physical and digital documentary heritage of the Library Center and on the interrogation of the catalog through the ARiEl discovery, as well as a guided tour to get to know the physical spaces of the libraries of the humanistic and scientific pole .

The degree thesis: planning and drafting
The module is an aid for those who are preparing to compile their degree thesis by presenting the various stages of its preparation: from conception to documentation, to the index, to writing strategies, to revision. The second part of the lesson focuses on the drafting of the bibliography, on the selection of the citation style, on the use of tools such as Word and Pages. Clarifications on plagiarism and copyright will be provided.

Electronic resources: databases and other research tools
The module, divided into disciplinary fields, is aimed at presenting electronic resources such as databases, electronic journals, e-books and other tools supplied by the CBA and at explaining simple and advanced search strategies, saving and exporting results obtained in EndNote Basic and the additional services that each resource makes available for research. ARiEl and Share, integrated research tools, and EleA, the University of Salerno's open archive, will be presented.
